The highlight of this month for us was definitely the official launch of our new logo!

For just over two years, we had used a logo that had been created off of Ukwakha Isizwe Foundation’s logo. It was originally our heart to see these two charities work as one in the same. However, as we advanced from ‘planning’ to ‘doing’, and brought Sukuma Foundation alive, we witnessed this organisation become unique and create it’s own entity. We experienced firsthand that, although Ukwakha Isizwe Foundation and Sukuma Foundation are still very close and supportive of one another, they are separate entities. And it was necessary to create that separation from an outside perspective.
And so the journey began…
“The strongest logos tell simple stories.”
Sol Sender
In full belief of the quote above, we knew it was time to implement that uniqueness into our organisation through our logo. We worked tirelessly to create something that would represent our organisation, and speak the story of who we are, and what our mission is.
We knew we wanted to use hands, in order to symbolize the support we offer, but were struggling with the positioning of them. We considered the typical “one hand pulling up the other”, but felt that it didn’t speak to the equality aspect we stand for.
We then considered footprints, but again, felt that it implied a leader and a follower, which isn’t the message we wanted to portray.
We finally came to the realization of what we needed: hands “supporting” one another, but on the same level. This demonstrates our mission of helping people in order to uplift, empower and equip them – so that we can see them rise to a better place, go out, and help others too! And so the ripple effect commences, and a revival of change, love and encouragement takes place!
We trust you’ll enjoy our new appearance, and that you join us as we embark on this revival of change to see people’s lives improved, and our nation uplifted.
Stand with us as we encourage the needy to RISE UP!
